Updated: Mar 7, 2020

Aside from having some of the best food and drinks around the world, Alsace has a lot to offer. It is undoubtedly a spotlight destination that should make it on everybody's bucket list. Bordered by canals and Gothic architecture, there is so much to take in. Not to mention, there is a lively nightlife and many festivities throughout the year.

To make creating an itinerary easier, here are several of the most exciting destinations throughout the historical region:

Musée Würth France Erstein

This museum shows some of the best contemporary art (16,000 pieces) by French artists, new and old. Take a guided tour or walk through the museum at your own pace. If you can, try to catch one of the museum's concerts or temporary exhibitions.

The Village of Riquewihr

Riquewihr is known for being one of the most beautiful villages around. As you visit, check out the boutiques, galleries, and restaurants. There are even wine tastings and cellars you can visit and taste test at. If you wish, you can also stay a night at the inter-municipal campsite or one of the quaint bed and breakfasts.

Donon Mountain Top

Hike up 3,310 feet to the top of Donon Mountain. Donon Mountain is the exact point between Alsace and Lorraine. This peak has been significant throughout history, even in prehistoric times. There is a lot of history and stories surrounding this beautiful mountain.

Ecomusée d'Alsace

This open-air museum is perhaps one of the largest in France. It is essentially a 20th-century village with 70 beautiful rural homes and over 4,000 artifacts and items to view. Every day, there are activities, events, guided tours, hands-on workshops, and exhibitions to take advantage of.

Europa-Park

Whether you're bringing along the kids or looking to release your inner-child, Europa Park is a lot of fun. Although it is located in Germany, it is a mere 47-minute drive away from Alsace. This magical place is Germany's biggest amusement park and features over 100 attractions.

Colmar

Since the 13th-century, the City of Colmar has been a cultural center. This fairytale town is breathtaking, full of flower gardens, canals, colorful homes and buildings, artwork, and much more. You could spend the entire day walking down cobblestone streets admiring the Renaissance and medieval appeal of the city.

Kaysersberg

This former commune appears to be something out of a dream. It is colorful, friendly, full of natural beauty, and lively. If you visit during the holiday season, make sure you come to Kaysersberg for the Christmarket. The town's medieval remnants and snowy hillsides truly create magical memories.
